Ding Dong Merrily On High

A lively upbeat Christmas tune to energise your day and to be enjoyed by all ages. This piece has a folk influenced style played on the Melodeon, Fiddle, Guitar and Bodhran at different dynamics / volume each time through to add variety and hopefully inspire you to keep listening. Also watch out for the surprising stops (rests in the music) near the end! This Christmas resource is intended to be used in order to lift someone’s feelings and make them smile and enliven their spirits with the fun way it has been produced.

Intentions: Enliven, Uplifting, Smile, Inspire vocal sounds, Deep breathing

• This video is only about 2 and a half minutes long but feel free to repeat the video as many times as you like in order to get your Christmas cheer dosage, maybe see if you spot or notice different things with each listening experience

• If available plug in, or pair up any external speaker that you might be able to use in order to improve the audio quality

• As this is quite an uplifting piece, the child might be best listening on a pair of headphones (if available), so that they can choose the correct volume for their personal preference

• Make sure that the screen is clearly visible to the child and secure

• Try to share eye-contact, smiles and maybe the words if you know them to encourage enjoyment and positivity

• You might try out humming or glorrr-ing the ‘gloria’ section (don’t forget a big breath if you can before you start!)

• See if you can hear, see and maybe name any of the instruments featured in the video

• See if you can follow the tune and who’s playing it?

• If you feel the urge and are able to, maybe try tapping along to the music. Explore what feels comfortable, perhaps try tapping some rhythms out on a table or perhaps using a percussion instrument (if any are to hand)
